Who says a Christmas pine swag is only for Christmas?
With the right florals, ribbon, and seasonal accents, a basic pine swag can become the perfect base for bright summer front door decor. In this project, we’re taking a traditional Christmas greenery swag and transforming it into a fresh lemon and blue floral door swag that feels sunny, cheerful, and completely ready for summer.
This is a great way to look at your supplies differently. A Christmas swag, wreath, or greenery base can often be repurposed for other seasons with just a few thoughtful design choices. Instead of seeing pine as only holiday greenery, try using it as a base for florals, fruit accents, bows, and seasonal picks.
For this design, we used yellow lemons, blue and yellow florals, soft accent flowers, and a blue patterned ribbon to create a bright summer color palette.

Why This Project Works
The pine base gives the florals something to attach to, and its dark green color becomes background texture, while the summer accents become the focus.
The yellow adds warmth and energy, while the blue gives the swag a fresh, garden-inspired feel.
Design Tips for Repurposing a Christmas Swag
Start by treating the pine swag as your base layer. Add a large bow first to establish the color story, then place plenty of greenery in 2-3 textures and colors. Then add your main seasonal accents, like lemons or statement flowers. Once those focal pieces are in place, fill in with smaller flowers, greenery, and texture as needed.
