Quick & Easy Mailbox Bows

We’ve been selling a lot of royal blue ribbon for people making bows in support of their local police officers. We wanted to share this quick and easy way to use 10-inch wide deco mesh or poly burlap to make a large, weatherproof bow in under 5 minutes. While shown on a mailbox, these bows would also look great on columns, poles and fences.

We also use the handy product Tinsel Roping to assemble the bow and affix it to our mailbox. This product is both functional and decorative, and is available in many colors to match the object you’re attaching to. We used black on our black mailbox.

For outdoor decorating, it’s hard to beat Poly Burlap and Deco Poly Mesh. Deco Poly Mesh has been available for many years, but the more recently introduced Poly Burlap is a thicker, softer plastic designed to look more like natural burlap. Unlike natural burlap, it is available in dozens of vibrant colors, and will not be affected by moisture.

We offer lots of options for blue deco mesh, and you could use any of them to make a bow like the one in this video.  We used 10-inch wide material, but you could make an even larger bow using this method and 21-inch wide mesh.

You can also make fuller bows than we showed by continuing to add loops.  While this video stopped after three pairs of loops, a bow with four or five pairs of loops would look great, too.

We used slightly more than 10 yards of material to make this bow.  You could slightly reduce the size if you wanted, which would allow you to get 3 bows out of each 10 yard roll of mesh.
